I love body creams, mainly because of how dry my skin is, but I love this body cream for many more reasons. It’s Lush’s ‘Sleepy’ lotion and it has been given this name for a good reason. This body lotion is infused with lavender oil, oatmeal infusion and many other beautiful ingredients. I have never been so in love with a body lotion, I put it on every night before I go to bed and it really helps me to just chill out. The main reason being – it has lavender in it. Lavender has been scientifically proven to help people with anxiety and insomnia.
Here’s some research into lavender…
- Sayorwan et al, did a study into lavender and relaxation. These are their results;
‘The results revealed that lavender oil caused significant decreases of blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature… In terms of mood responses, the subjects in the lavender oil group categorised themselves as more active, fresher relaxed than subjects just inhaling base oil.’ (base oil was almond oil – the placebo oil.)
So basically they gave participants either lavender oil or almond oil and compared their heart rates etc and found that people who inhaled the lavender oil were much more relaxed!

- Li-Wei Chien et al, did a study on lavender and people with insomnia…
‘In midlife women with insomnia, 20 minutes of lavender inhalation twice weekly for 12 weeks is associated with reduction in heart rate and heart rate variability and improvements in sleep quality.’
